The Soul of Etna

The Black Earth
Our wines are born from the unique, mineral-rich volcanic soil of Etna Nord. This black, sandy earth imparts a distinctive savory character and vibrant minerality that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world.

High Altitude, Old Vines
Our vineyards are situated at 550-630 meters above sea level. The high altitude and extreme temperature variations impart incredible freshness and complexity. We cultivate 60-year-old 'Alberello' vines, the ancestral training system that yields fruit of unparalleled concentration.

The Custodians of a Legacy
Cantine Buonvassallo was founded by Giuseppe Piazza and Davide Vignoli, two friends whose families have deep roots in viticulture. Their vision was simple: to revive the ancient practices of their ancestors and let the voice of Etna speak through their wines.
A Blend of Tradition and Nature
We combine spontaneous fermentation with a unique aging process. By utilizing traditional terracotta amphorae, along with local chestnut tonneaux and French oak, we achieve a perfect balance between the purity of the fruit and the structure imparted by the wood. This commitment to craft ensures that every bottle of Don Vincenzo, Frammassone, and Mystycus is a true reflection of its volcanic origin.
